Client Spotlight: guides.vote

Power to the voters!

I recently started working with the marketing agency, Loom.Co, as a contractor to help create social media content for their client, guides.vote. Guides.vote is a nonprofit organization that provides nonpartisan voters guides about the candidates in key US elections. As you can imagine, this service is essential in our political climate this year. My main responsibilities so far have been ideation, drafting scripts, and producing video content to introduce new, younger audiences to the value of the guides so they can make informed decisions at the polls. The experience has been collaborative and revelatory!

I’ve created a few vertical videos for their Instagram and TikTok. Check this one out!

I enjoy working with the Guides and Loom Co teams and am learning some of the nuances of content creation with a politics-focused organization. The biggest challenge has been navigating some of the red tape and language we must consider. Since everything we create and share has to be nonpartisan, all content and copy has to present as neutral. Yes, this is stating the obvious, but I’m realizing how easy it is to skew to one side unintentionally! I’m actually enjoying the creative challenge of working through the restrictions to land on a solution that still connects with the audience. All in a day’s work!

As the election draws near, I look forward to participating in the bigger marketing campaigns. It’s exciting to think about the type of work I’ll get to have under my belt by the end of it all! Get prepared to take your vote to the polls with one of their free guides here.
